PAST WINNING ART PRIZES AND ACQUISITIONS
Sculptures in the Garden is more than just an annual art exhibition, it's a celebration of public art in the heart of regional NSW. Past winning artworks are now part of the Lawson Park Sculpture Walk, providing a treasure trove of outdoor art to enjoy by both visitors and locals. The creation and continued growth of the Lawson Park Sculpture Walk is a great legacy of Sculptures in the Garden. It is a gift of art to the region, found on the banks of the Cudgegong River in Mudgee.
The sculpture walk came to be after Sculptures in the Garden founder, Kay Norton-Knight, along with the exhibition committee, proposed the idea to the Mid-Western Regional Council (MWRC) who deemed it a worthy and important asset for the local community.

This work subverts traditional aesthetics to reclaim the silenced female voice in art, challenging the objectification imposed by the male gaze. Inspired by the crouching Aphrodite (275 BC), this sculpture intends to disrupt its origin, honouring the vital role of women in nurturing and preserving our natural world

The shadow/reflection is unseen by the casting figure. This is in keeping with Jung's theory, "The shadow personifies everything that the subject refuses to acknowledge about himself". The shadow is displaying two opposing traits of the figure's personality. The front is bright and polished while the back is tarnished.

This incredible sculpture took nearly 6 months to make and was made from paddock wire retrieved from bushfire ravaged farmland near Wollomombi NSW. The semi-abstract sculpture stands at 300x300x60cm and captures the powerful stance stallions have while in motion.

As a child, my grandma told me a story from Wallachian mythology about a bird man, that lived with and could speak the bird language and this how I visualized and dreamt about him. Then and now.

“Ahead” is our guardian. She was intended to be the head for “Transition” the largest work I have built to date; however it was too large, meaning the finished sculpture would not fit with in the confines of the studio roof! Ahead became a work on its own right… ‘we were not behind but ahead!’. And Transition went on to win Sculpture by the Sea in Cottesloe WA. Artist represented by King Street Gallery on William.

I have created this sculpture by weaving steel around rocks, following the contours and the shapes of the individual rocks. Aiming to show an expression of thoughtfulness that is pensive in manner, contemplating our current situation.

Balancing the books is a single tree trunk that has been carved, to give the viewer an illusion of multiple pieces in a stack. The way it is carved creates a trussed beam that he has been using in his work for the last few years.
