THE CREATION OF SCULPTURES IN THE GARDEN
Welcome to Sculptures in the Garden, the annual 16-day sculpture exhibition that brings together established and emerging sculptors from across Australia to showcase their incredible work. Set amidst the picturesque gardens of Rosby Vineyard in Mudgee, this event has been captivating art enthusiasts since its inaugural year in October 2011. What began with 130 sculptures and over 600 visitors has now evolved into a spectacular event attracting 4,000+ visitors and featuring the impressive work of more than 250 artists.
Our mission has always been to elevate sculpture as an art form, curate the most captivating works by talented sculptors, and foster community engagement in the appreciation and understanding of these art pieces. When esteemed art scholar and former director of the Art Gallery of NSW, Edmund Capon, opened Sculptures in the Garden in 2016, he noted the event's significant contribution to the art world, declaring that sculpture had transformed from a "poor cousin" to a vibrant centerpiece in the Australian art scene.
Under the visionary leadership of Artistic Director Kay Norton-Knight, our goal is to bring exceptional sculptures to the Mudgee region, providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase and sell their work while connecting with fellow creatives. Furthermore, we aim to enhance public art initiatives for the enrichment of both the local community and visitors to the Mudgee region.
The Sculptures in the Garden Committee, comprising seven dedicated local volunteers, works passionately to celebrate the talent of Australian artists and raise funds for local charities and art initiatives. We believe in the power of art to inspire, ignite conversations, and make a positive impact in our community.
Join us on this remarkable artistic journey, where breathtaking sculptures, artistic expression, and community support intertwine to create an unforgettable experience.
