Sculptures in the Garden isn’t just for grown-ups. With sculpture to discover, creative activities and plenty of space to explore, SIG is a great way to introduce children to art in a relaxed outdoor environment.
Held among the gardens and vineyards of Rosby Wines in Mudgee, the 2026 exhibition offers plenty for curious young minds.

There are no quiet gallery corridors here.
Children can explore the outdoor exhibition with their families, discovering sculptures in all shapes, sizes and materials throughout the gardens.
Encourage them to choose a favourite, look for unusual materials or imagine the story behind a sculpture. Experiencing art outdoors gives children the freedom to engage with sculpture in their own way.

Help Create a Life-Sized Sculpture
One of the highlights of SIG 2026 is My Kingdom for a Horse, a collaborative community sculpture project that invites visitors to become part of the creative process.
Children and adults can work alongside professional artists to help build life-sized horses using locally gathered sticks and branches.
Artist-led sessions run daily from 11am and no previous experience is needed. Once the exhibition is over, the completed herd will be gifted to communities across the Mudgee Region, giving everyone who participates the chance to contribute to something lasting.
Saturday Kids Activities
Each Saturday brings something different for younger visitors, with free activities included with event entry.
Saturday 10 October, 12pm
Let’s Celebrate! with Brothers3 Music Academy brings an energetic hour of colourful, carnival-inspired songs and performance.
Saturday 17 October, 12pm
Storytime & Carnival Creations invites children to join Felicity from Mid-Western Regional Council Library for storytelling and carnival-inspired creativity.
Saturday 24 October, 12pm
Carnival Monsters with Michael Bourke and Mudgee Arts Precinct gives kids the chance to transform everyday rubbish into their very own carnival monster, with all materials supplied.
Make a Day of It
Between exploring the sculptures and joining an activity, families can relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the exhibition.
With local food, refreshments and plenty happening throughout the program, it’s easy to spend a few hours wandering, discovering and creating together.
Sculptures in the Garden gives children the opportunity to see that sculpture isn’t something that only belongs inside a gallery. It can be discovered outdoors, explored from every angle and even created with their own hands.
